It’s already rare to be born as a human being.
Even rarer to be born with all our senses intact.
Rarer still to be born in a time when the Dhamma exists.
Harder yet to actually hear about the Buddha’s teachings.
And even more difficult to feel drawn to them and step into a temple.
To become a Buddhist and commit to the path is harder still.
Studying and practicing the Dhamma correctly—rarer than all the rest.
And truly living the Dhamma in daily life is the hardest of all.
That’s why the appearance of a Buddha in this world is incredibly rare.
We only have a short window of opportunity to encounter the teachings before falling back into endless rounds of wandering, in ages where the Dhamma may no longer be found.

My name is Buu Thong, and I am currently studying and practicing at Phuoc Son Monastery, one of Vietnam’s prominent centers of learning, focusing on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness Meditation, Pali language, and the Abhidhamma (Higher Teachings). Throughout my journey of studying and embracing the noble teachings of the Buddha under the guidance and instruction of my venerable teacher, Most Venerable Buu Chanh, I have realized the profound and invaluable benefits of the Dhamma in daily life.
With a special affinity for the Abhidhamma, after a period of study and exploration, I have developed a deep passion for this subject, which is often considered “difficult” and “dry.” I have always nurtured the aspiration to convey the profound content of the Abhidhamma to students in a manner that is simple and accessible. My hope is to support students in their journey of understanding the Buddha’s teachings and to express gratitude and reverence to our teachers and masters for preserving these precious teachings for generations.
“Này các Tỷ-kheo, cõi luân hồi này là vô thủy. Đối với chúng sanh lang thang luân chuyển do bị vô minh cản trở và bị tham dục trói buộc thì không thể tìm thấy một điểm khởi đầu. Này các Tỷ-kheo, giả sử có một người lấy tất cả đất của quả đất này để viên thành những hòn đất lớn cỡ bằng hạt táo, cầm từng hòn đất đặt xuống và nói với từng hòn đất: ‘Đây là cha tôi, đây là ông nội tôi…’ Chuỗi các người cha và ông nội của người ấy sẽ tiếp nối không bao giờ chấm dứt, tuy rằng quả đất lớn đã được sử dụng đến mức cạn kiệt. Vì sao? Này các Tỷ-kheo, bởi vì cõi luân hồi này là vô thủy. Đối với các chúng sanh bị vô minh cản trở và bị tham dục trói buộc thì không thể tìm thấy một điểm khởi đầu. Này các Tỷ-kheo, đã lâu lắm rồi, các ông đã chịu đau khổ, sầu não, tai họa, đã làm cho các mộ phần ngày càng chồng chất lớn thêm. Đã quá đủ để các ông nhàm chán với tất cả các hành, đủ để các ông từ bỏ chúng, đủ để các ông giải thoát khỏi chúng.”
