Tipiṭaka or Tripiṭaka, means “Triple Basket”, signifying the traditional term for ancient collections of Buddhist sacred texts. The Tipiṭaka is compounded of three primary categories of scriptures that collectively constitute the Buddhist canon: the Sutta Piṭaka, the Vinaya Piṭaka, and the Abhidhamma Piṭaka. The Pāḷi Tipiṭaka is documented in various scripts so that the Buddha’s words are easily available for all Buddhist adherents.
